What is expected of you?
- Order items from suppliers against written purchase requests from the head of department concerned
- Compare purchase prices regularly with price lists and price level of other suppliers
- Ensure that adequate stocks are kept as per the company’s par stock levels
- Be involved in stock takings of all items periodically
- Manage the stores team and monitor their individual roles daily
- Be aware of Health & Safety procedures
- Keep adequate records of prices for each item purchased regularly
- Maintain a monthly price index of the main commodities purchased
- Lease a purchase order for each item ordered, indicating the order quantity, purchase price agreed to with the supplier, and specifications
- Perform any other work as directed by the General Manager
